I welcome you as the Governor of the Penza Region. Here I call your attention to a short description of its economic and cultural life. As one of the most developing and original Russian regions, it disposes of a significant industrial and scientific-research potential, highly skilled specialists, an advanced building complex. We have big reserves to raise the agriculture to a much higher level. All this determines our future. The practice of the last years proves that the development of economics, rise in living standards of every inhabitant of our region, all this depends to a large extent on the level of local industry, on home and foreign investment. As regards the latter, it is favored by the political stability in our region, social accord, and favorable legislative and taxation climate. As important factors of mutually advantageous cooperation we consider a good geographical and even geostrategical location, a ramified transport system and up-to-date communications. Considerable investment possibilities are concentrated on machine-building and instrument-making industry. It is advantageous to invest in chemical, textile and watch industry, putting into production of new kinds of compressors and bolt reinforcement, diagnostic, measuring and sensing equipment, common consumer goods. It is effective to invest in pharmaceutical field, small business. The Penza Region is one of the most promising territories for expanded cooperation. At the same time, our region is rich in its traditions. We have the unique natural conditions, a broad system of rest homes and health-centres, picturesque places to have a rest, to hunt and to fish. There are a lot of historical and architectural monuments, museums. Visiting our places of interest is an unforgettable experience.
